Can Tampon take your virginity away?

No. A piece of cotton can't take your virginity away!

Status of your hymen has also nothing to do with your virginity status.

Using a tampon is like inserting a small, absorbent material into the vagina to manage menstrual blood. Virginity, on the other hand, is often associated with the first time a person has sexual intercourse. Since using a tampon doesn't involve sexual penetration or intercourse, it doesn't affect or take away your virginity. They are two different things!

Can I use a tampon and still be a virgin?

Definitely yes!

If you haven't had sex yet, you can use tampons and still be considered a virgin.

No one should judge you or dictate what you do. It's your personal decision how you will deal with your bleeding period.

If I’ve used a tampon before having sexual intercourse, does the tampon count as my first time?

No. Inserting a tampon into your body doesn't mean that you've had sex.

It doesn't change your virginity status!

Your first experience with sexual intercourse remains your first time.

Will a tampon break my hymen?

Tampon may or may not stretch your hymen.

Tampons are tiny and can go in the same way where your period blood comes out.

On the other hand, there are many other common activities that can also tear your hymen:

  • Riding a bike
  • Gymnastics
  • Riding a horse
  • Climbing on a jungle gym
  • Vigorous exercise
  • Pelvic exam or Pap test
  • Sexual intercourse

Is Tampon safe to use?

Tampons must be used properly. It is recommended to change your tampon every 4-8 hrs to reduce any risk.

Is it more risky to use tampons than sanitary pads?

Both tampons and sanitary pads are generally safe when used correctly.

TSS (Toxic shock syndrome) is caused by the bacteria that can grow if you don't change your tampon or sanitary pads within the recommended time.

It is very important to maintain good hygiene and change your tampon or sanitary pad every 4-8hrs to prevent bacteria from growing.

Can Tampon be lost in your body?

No!

A tampon CANNOT get lost in your body.

Your vagina has a sort of 'exit-only' door called the cervix, which keeps things from going up into your uterus. The tampon has a string attached to it, so when it's time to change it, you just pull gently on the string to take it out.

When should I change Tampon?

Change tampon every 4-8 hrs.

If leakage occurs, it is an indication that your tampon is full and needs to be
changed earlier.
